During a colon hydrotherapy session, a speculum (attached to the colon hydrotherapy machine through a long rubber tube) is passed into the rectum to aid the flow of safe filtered, temperature-controlled water that gently flushes the colon and eliminate fecal matter, gas, and mucus.
