Today we are happy to introduce a new service that is offered at our Wellness Centers.
Dry Skin Brushing! Some might think that it is a painful procedure. Guess what, Skin Brushing is not painful at all! On the other hand, it is powerful, very relaxing, soothing and one of the natural detoxifying techniques that will help you keep your skin looking cleaner, younger and healthier.
Dry Brushing is an old and very productive method of skin detox. It was used for centuries by Russians Dutch and Turks at their bath houses, to improve circulation, prevent skin drying and to restore skin balance.
Let’s start with some Dry Skin Brushing facts:
Skin is the largest and one of the well known eliminative organ of the entire body. It is responsible for one -third of the body’s detoxification process every day. Every day an average person eliminates about a liter of waste acids through sweat glands. Things like body soaps, body creams, deodorants, perfumes, as well as, synthetic clothing may lead to improper skin balance. Therefore, all the above will clog pores, cause toxicity and varieties of other skin problems.
If dead skin is not removed on the daily basis, pores get clogged up and skin becomes inactive, which leads to impurities within the body. Dry Skin Brushing helps remove layers of dead skin, opens pores, restores the elimination process and provides better absorption of nutrients. Dry Skin Brushing also stimulates other detoxification organs such as kidneys, colon, liver, lungs and lymphatic system. It does that by providing smooth and gentle internal massage.
There are many more other Dry Skin Brushing benefits:
- Helps remove cellulite and get rid of stretch marks.
- Tightens both skin and muscles.
- Stimulates circulation and hormone production.
- Promotes lymphatic drainage as well as, digestion.
- Strengthens immune system.
- Prevents skin aging.
If you are considering a Dry Skin Brushing and would like to know more about this service Please Call Us.

Almost all of our clients complain that they feel gassy and bloated and ask whether colon- hydrotherapy (colonics) will help them with their problem.
Gas can be embarrassing and unpleasant, but everyone has it — and no, you are not the only one. Most adults release gas over 15 times a day! The gas that passes through the rectum comes from bacteria in the large intestine, which contains sulfur (this gives an unpleasant smell). In addition, gas can be caused by swallowing air, but also from the normal breakdown of undigested foods. Everyone is unique and what causes gas for one person may not affect another. Yes, colon-hydrotherapy will definitely help. Colonic Therapy will remove all the harmful, dried out, toxic wastes that are stuck around the walls of large intestines. Fecal matter that was not released on time lets bad bacteria to multiply in our colons which lead to production of unhealthy environment in intestines that cause gas and bloating.
Nevertheless, it is also very important to know the food that might cause the problem, drink plenty of water, and chew your food thoroughly. Some of the healthiest foods can cause gas, so it’s important to know how to eat them. Check the list below to avoid your own gas crisis:
Carbohydrates: For some people, though not all, starches like wheat, different types of grains, potatoes, and corn can produce gas as they’re digested in the large intestine. If this happens to you, make sure to eat slowly.
Milk: Lactose, the sugar found in milk, can promote gas and bloating in some people. It happens because some people either don’t have Lactase enzyme that digests milk or just don’t have enough of it. Therefore, try to stay away from cheese, milk, yogurt, and ice cream if you suspect this is happening to you
Fiber-rich Foods: Fiber helps keep you full, regulates your bowels, and may lower the risk of heart disease and specific cancers. Soluble fiber, found in oat bran, beans, peas, and most fruits, gets broken down when it reaches the large intestine, producing gas. Does this mean you should avoid it? No, not at all! In fact, you should build up your tolerance. If your diet currently consists of little fiber, incorporate it slowly to prevent stomach distress and bloating. Drink plenty of water, too, to help the process along.
Cruciferous Vegetables: Watch out for common gassy foods like cabbage, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, and asparagus. When you do eat these foods, it helps to chew them as thoroughly as possible.
Hope this will help you to stay Gas Free!

A lot of our clients ask us what they would need to do prior to get a colon hydrotherapy treatment also known as colonic. This topic will help our clients better prepare themselves and their colons for the colonic procedure.
First of all when you just start searching for a place that offers colon hydrotherapy treatments, make sure you consider the following:
· Certification- Any person who performs colon hydrotherapy should held an I-ACT Certification. It is a procedure by which a colon hydrotherapist applies to the Board for approval. When the therapist has successfully passed the I-ACT certification examination and fulfilled all requirements, only then the therapist would be granted with I-ACT Certification.
· NOTE- All members shall post their I-ACT Certifications in a public area for easy viewing by the public!!!
Therefore, if you come to the facility and do not see a certification hanging on the wall in the waiting area, you should definitely get concerned. There are a lot of places/therapists that claim that they are I-ACT certified, however, it is not true. It can be easily checked by going to www.i-act.org websites and just writing the full name of the therapist.
· Preparation- What you do before a session and while you are coming for a series of treatments, will greatly enhance the effectiveness of your treatment. This will also help toxins and old hardened fecal matter to release more comfortably. Therefore, in order to gain best results from colon hydrotherapy treatment it may be more comfortable to refrain from eating at least 2 hours before your scheduled appointment. Drinking lots of water and juices is a great idea (no coffee of caffeinated beverages).
· Diet- After receiving colonic it is important to:
1) Drink plenty of liquids (purified water, juices, and herb teas).
2) Eat healthy vegetable soups for the next 24 hours. Pureed or blended soups are also recommended.
3) Avoid eating raw vegetables for a couple of days. Steamed vegetables and raw fruits are sufficient.
4) Reduce meat consumption, especially pork and beef for the next 3 days.
5) Avoid fried and deep fried products.
Cheers

I’ve noticed that a lot of my clients suffer with hemorrhoids. Many people are so embarrassed about their problem even when they come to get colonics they try to keep that to themselves. I don’t want to offend anybody by posting this blog, on the other hand, want to tell a little bit about statistic on hemorrhoids and also share some home remedies that can be far more effective than expensive over the counter medication.
According to the American College of Surgeons two out of three adults have had, currently have or will have a case of hemorrhoids. So, you are not alone in this world with this problem and there are many ways to either prevent this condition, or treat it with inexpensive, natural remedies that in most cases are proven to work.
Along with treating your condition with natural, nonchemical remedies, there are ways to speed up the healing process such as:
• Keep the bowels as clean as possible.
• Drink lots of fruit juices and vegetable juices.
• Do not strain or hold your breath while having a bowel movement.
• Take walks after meals.
Natural Remedies
Consider using some of the below posted suggestions and, hopefully, in a few days, you will have this problem behind you.
• Apply liquid lecithin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lecithin) directly on the hemorrhoids, once a day, until they disappear.
• Take a warm bath. If your hemorrhoids are really bad you can do that several times a day.
• Eat three raw unprocessed almonds every day. Make sure to chew each one about 50 times (even though it sounds a little crazy, people claim it works).
• Consider taking advantage of the healing properties of the enzymes in papaya. Deep in a sterilized cotton ball in a pure papaya juice. Place it on the hemorrhoid area and secure it in a place with a bandage. The juice should help stop the bleeding and bring the irritation under control.
To prevent hemorrhoids in a first place, it is recommended to increase the fiber and fluids intake. The idea is to keep your stools soft so you don’t need to strain when moving your bowels which is the main cause of hemorrhoids. About fiber properties read my next post that will be coming really soon.
Happy Healing!

We are happy to bring you this new and exciting feature on our web site. Five Star Colonic blog is here to introduce you to what is going on in the world of colon-hydrotherapy and in the health world itself. It will help all of us stay connected, share new ideas and helpful remedies on how to improve our health in today’s society.
Our first blog on this site will be dedicated to Colon-Hydrotherapy Equipments that are commonly used in today’s market. We want to bring out the truth about the false claims that circle around certain websites. It will help all of you understand and make a right decision when choosing your next colonic treatment. This is not to promote or hurt any of the brands; it’s to clearly educate all of you out there that are interested in getting colonic treatment.
There are two types of colonic machines that are commonly used today. The first equipment is the closed- tube system, otherwise known as the Closed System. The other is an open-basin system, more commonly known as the Open System.
(Open System) SAFE, EFFECTIVE & PRIVATE
Open System is the State of the Art gravity fed colonic machine in today’s industry and provides clients with more freedom and privacy. An open system allows the colon to fill and empty based upon the colon’s elasticity, personal capacity and peristaltic activity thus minimizing the danger of excess levels of water; because as the colon reaches its capacity the natural peristaltic activity empties the colon around the small speculum allowing less intensive monitoring. With the open system the speculum is much smaller and is more comfortable than with the closed system. In the open system the waste comes out of the rectum around the speculum rather than through the speculum as in the closed system.
In an open system, the filling of the colon is accomplished using a gravity fed stream. Open systems all look very similar – like an armoire, toilet and recliner put together. Because the fill/cleanse process is slower and gentler, waste extraction occurs naturally as the patient’s bowels contract to excrete waste. Because waste removal is natural, and risk of colon perforation minimized. The colonic table supports the patient from the waist up with a reclined bench. The lower half of the table supports the patient’s butt, legs and feet as they straddle a space for the speculum and collection basin. In addition, the open system allows for urination during the session, a natural occurrence associated with elimination. Most patients having used open systems describe the procedure as very comfortable and easy because of the privacy, smaller speculum and gentler stream of water.
• Gravity Fed or Pressure Controlled
• FDA Registered
• Automatic Temperature Shutoff
• Safe Ultra-Violet Filtered Water
• Sterile – Disposable Rectal Tubes – “Size of a Pencil”
• Comfortable – Easy to Use
• May be Self-Operated for Those Who Prefer Solitude
• Dignity and Modesty Maintained
• No Mess, No Blowouts!
(Closed System) SAFE & UNCOMFORTABLE
When the water soaks in the colon for a couple of minutes, the process is repeated until you feel an urge to release the water. When you feel need to release the water, the colon hydrotherapist turns the nozzle on the machine to “Empty” and the contents of the colon which are ready to be released flow freely into the waste tube and down the drain. Because this is a fully enclosed, hygienic system, there should be no mess and no odor. Because the tip must accommodate solids leaving the body, it tends to be large. This can be uncomfortable to insert. Administering a closed system requires the therapist’s constant attention and bedside presence. Water pressure and temperature within the colon must be monitored constantly to avoid leakage or colon perforation. Closed systems deliver a pressurized stream of water into the colon; when the colon is filled and pressure reaches maximum levels the therapist manually drains the colon.
Closed systems are administered to a patient lying on a table, with no collection basin – this can be a problem if the patient wishes to urinate during the procedure, or leakage occurs. Frequently with the closed system the speculum gets clogged with large pieces of hard feces and sometime pops out of rectum creating a mess on the table and an embarrassment for the patient. The closed system patient must resist the urge to urinate causing discomfort and even humiliation.
• Sterile – Disposable Rectal Tubes (much wider nozzle in diameter, which can create discomfort for the patient)
• FDA Registered
• Safe Filtered Water
• Uncomfortable (do not allow for urination during a session, which can lead to discomfort)
• Therapist must remain by your side during session which can limit your privacy and freedom.
We really hope that the above information will help some of you make a correct decision. We fail to take into account that everyone is unique so as everyone’s colon and that what is going to ideally cleanse one colon can perforate another’s colon. However, comfort and privacy will be always important to all of us!
Happy Cleansing
